BEIRUT: Lebanon’s Human Rights Committee emphasized Tuesday the importance of keeping the 2009 kidnapping of an MEA employee separate from politics and out of the media, a reference to Justice Minister Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi’s previous accusation that Hezbollah was responsible for Joseph Sader’s disappearance.
According to committee head MP Michel Moussa, the group’s goal was to “uncover the truth about the fate of … Joseph Sader and not politicize his case, in order to achieve full justice and thus free him.”
Moussa also urged anyone with information regarding Sader’s case to come forward, saying the file was not yet closed and the committee was determined to pursue the case.
Sader, an IT manager at Middle East Airlines and a father of three, was abducted on Feb. 12, 2009, while walking to work at Rafik Hariri International Airport.
