Lebanon’s military prosecutor on Friday indicted Roumieh Prison inmates and security staff for the murder of a Palestinian prisoner earlier in the week, the National News Agency reported.

Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr on Friday filed charges against nine inmates for the killing of Ghassan al-Qandafli, while also charging two officers with neglect.

The case was then turned over to the Military Investigative Judge.

On Tuesday, an officer in the Roumieh jail told As-Safir newspaper that the prisoner was beaten two hours prior to his death by Fatah al-Islam inmates, adding that “they likely are [responsible] for killing him.”
