Syrian refugee kids enjoy fun day in north Lebanon
BEIRUT: Some 450 refugee children who fled Syria into Akkar, north Lebanon, took a break from their normal routine Tuesday to play games and watch a play.
The activities were part of a fun day organized by the Future Movement for Syrian refugee children aged between 2 and 14, a press release said.
The statement from the Future Movement said gifts were distributed to the children at the end of the fun day.
A Future Movement official in Akkar, Issam Abdel-Qader, said the fun day “comes as part of a series of activities aimed alleviating the suffering of displaced children resulting from poor conditions experienced by the Syrian refuges in Lebanon.”
Abdel-Qader, according to the press release, said the Future Movement is also planning a string of other learning activities in order to narrow the educational gap between Syria and Lebanon.
There are currently around 212,000 Syrian refugees receiving help from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon.
