The Lebanese Army has arrested nearly 50 Syrian nationals in different areas of the country for illegal residency and attempted entry into Lebanon, a statement said Thursday.

The statement said that the army arrested 11 people on the outskirts of the eastern town of Majdal Anjar for trying to sneak into the country illegally, while 38 individuals were arrested in the northern district of Akkar for illegitimate residency.

The army also seized one pick-up truck and four motorbikes without licenses.
