Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour briefed British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher on the government’s plan to aid Syrian refugees Tuesday. Following the meeting, Fletcher said that the discussion was very positive and praised the comprehensive plan which the government has passed. He stressed the need for all parties involved “to exert more efforts to help the families displaced from their homes in Syria especially under the current harsh weather conditions.” Later, Fletcher tweeted on his account that the “Storm this week hit families hard.” He added, “Amid lively refugee debate: Lebanon has obligations and internationals do too.” During the meeting, Fletcher informed Abu Faour that Britain would raise its contribution to aid the refugees in Lebanon, adding that the contribution exceeds $100 million.
