Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on Friday telephoned Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi and discussed the problems of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

Mansour also informed Arabi that he would submit a request to the Arab League voicing Lebanon’s wish to invite the Arab Foreign Minister Council to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the refugee issues in Lebanon.

Mansour also met with Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali and discussed means for cooperation between his ministry and the Syrian Embassy to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their country.

Lebanon is facing difficulties dealing with the increasingly high number of refugees from Syria on its soil. More than 150,000 refugees are registered with the UNHCR in Lebanon; some activists, however, say the actual number is much higher.
