Hundreds of protesters marched in Beirut in support of women’s rights in Lebanon and for the ratification of a new legislation to protect these rights.

According to the National News Agency, protesters marched from the Interior Ministry in Beirut’s Sanayeh on Sunday toward Speaker Nabih Berri’s residence in Ain al-Tineh.

It added that in addition to NGOs, civil society and law organizations, and syndicates, representatives from several political parties also took part in the protest.

Using loudspeakers to get their message across, demonstrators called for protecting women against domestic violence, respecting their rights and allowing them to take active part in all aspects of national life.
