Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abu Faour filed a complaint Thursday over the recent death of a toddler in Tripoli, north Lebanon.
Abu Faour filed the protest with State Prosecutor Hatem Madi in his capacity as the head of the Supreme Council for Childhood.
The child, Moemin al-Mohammad, died earlier this month after several hospitals declined to treat him because his uninsured parents could not pay expenses upfront.
Abu Faour said several arrests have been made in the case. He would not give details.
The complaint followed discussions Thursday regarding the child’s death between Abu Faour and Defense Minister Shakib Qortbawi.
“The case of the child, Moemin, will not go unpunished,” Abu Faour promised following the meeting at Qortbawi’s office.
