The head of the European Commission for Enlargement and the European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Füle will visit Lebanon Monday to discuss electoral reforms and the Syrian crisis with officials.
Füle is scheduled to meet with President Michel Sleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour, Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour and representatives of the United Nations in Lebanon.
Füle will express the EU’s continued support for, and encouragement of reforms in Lebanon within the framework of the ENP, a statement released by his office said.
“Commissioner Füle will stress that the European Union is very well aware of the many challenges Lebanon is facing both domestically and in its neighborhood ... he will announce a new financial assistance for Lebanon’s efforts to cope with the refugee crisis,” the statement added.
Füle will conclude his visit with a news conference Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Grand Serail
