BEIRUT: Army intelligence freed Sunday a Syrian national who had been kidnapped in Lebanon.
A statement issued by the body said: “Army intelligence located the place in which kidnapped Syrian Mohammad Samir Hamwi was being held in the Baalbek village of Brital.”
The statement added that “an Army intelligence patrol raided the location where Hamwi was held and freed him while the kidnappers fled into the mountainous areas in the region.” Hamwi is the son of the head of the Syrian Red Crescent.
He was abducted in Beirut on May 3.
