BEIRUT: Birdlife International this year marked 30 years since the founding of The Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon at its annual congress in Ottawa last month.
SPNL was honored for the leading role it has played in the revival of the “Hima” – a traditional community-managed protected area system – in both Lebanon and the Middle East.
Represented by it general director Assad Serhal, SPNL made presentations at number of workshops during the meeting.
Among these was an outline of the organization’s work on regulating hunting in Lebanon and a session on the empowerment of women in Hima sites.
