Report Launching by Admin Admin: Investigator appointed over STL witness leaks

BEIRUT: Acting Registrar of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon Daryl Mundis has appointed Stephane Bourgon as the court’s independent investigator to assess whether three incidents, which occurred earlier this year, constitute contempt.
The incidents surround the publication of alleged confidential witness lists.
Contempt Judge David Baragwanath, the STL’s president, initiated the proceedings in April on the grounds that the publication of so-called witness names could be deemed interference with the course of justice.
Bourgon is expected to report back to the court’s contempt judge “within the next few months,” a statement from the STL said Tuesday.
