HERMEL, Lebanon: A Lebanese man of Armenian origin was kidnapped in the outskirts of the Bekaa Valley town of Arsal Monday, a security source said.
The man, identified as Gregoire Noshiyan, is from Zahle but has been working in Arsal for almost 30 years where he fixes stone-cutting machines in the Wadi Hameed area.
His truck was found near a valley far away from where he usually works.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, speculated that the reason behind the abduction could be related to ransom.
The kidnappers probably assumed that the ransom would be quickly paid because Noshiyan’s expertise in repairing heavy machinery is much needed in Arsal, the source said.
