BEIRUT: Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the environmental ignorance found in many Lebanese districts at the launch Tuesday of the “Citizen’s Manual,” a guide to services provided by the Environment Ministry.
“The major responsibility for protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources lies on the citizen himself,” Mikati said.
The manual was launched during a ceremony at the Grand Serail attended by caretaker Environment Minister Nazem Khoury and several other ministers and media and diplomatic figures.
Khoury said the manual was intended to help spread awareness among citizens about their rights and protect them from corruption, and contains instructions related to requesting and understanding ministry documents.
Mikati added: “The citizen’s manual is a pioneering step in organizing the administrative work in the ministry and facilitating citizens’ transactions.”
