HERMEL: A man was kidnapped in the Bekaa Valley Thursday, a security source told The Daily Star, reportedly in retaliation for earlier violence in the area.
Qassem Ahmad alAtrash, 25, from the northeastern town of Arsal was kidnapped by a group of gunmen in Bazalieh on the road linking Baalbek and Hermel around 6 p.m.
The source said the abduction could possibly be linked to the killing of four people from the towns of Labweh and Ras Baalbek last month, when two Shiite men from the Jaafar clan and another from the Amhaz family, along with a Turkish citizen, were killed in Baalbek.
