BEIRUT: Dozens of prisoners at Roumieh prison Thursday staged a two-hour sit-in demanding that inmates involved in the Abra clashes be transferred to another section of the prison.
The National News Agency reported that the inmates refused to carry out daily attendance checks or enter their cells until those arrested for involvement in the Abra incidents, most of them supporters of fugitive Sheikh Ahmad Assir, were transferred to another section.
Security forces prevented confrontations from taking place between the prisoners. No injuries or damage were reported during the sit-in.
