BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army freed over the weekend a Syrian man who was kidnapped earlier this week in the eastern town of Zahle, the military said, adding that the abductors in the case were arrested.
Ibrahim al-Khalaf was abducted in Zahle on Sept. 12.
After days of investigation, an Army unit located the Syrian national and raided the abandoned house in Al-Ram neighborhood in Baalbek where he was being held Saturday.
The unit also apprehended the abductors – identified as Ahmad Yazbek and Hasan Noun – who confessed to kidnapping Khalaf for a ransom.
The suspects are being interrogated over their alleged involvement in other similar crimes, the Army added in its statement.
