BEIRUT: Caretaker Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi announced Tuesday his intention to bring about justice in the case of the allegedly mismanaged funds to renovate Roumieh prison.
Once the public prosecutor has finalized the investigation and determined the total amount of misused funds, the case would be tuned over to the investigative judge.
Qortbawi insisted the investigation should go forward “without any fear” because no one is above the law, adding that caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati was supportive of the investigation.
Qortbawi said there would be a detailed report on the prison to determine the cost and time needed to bring it up to standards.
