BEIRUT: A school teacher was kidnapped at gunpoint in the border town of Arsal in east Lebanon at dawn Monday, security sources said.
The sources told The Daily Star that four gunmen in a Range Rover with tinted windows kidnapped Abdel-Khaleq Matar near his house in Arsal.
Matar, 54, who hails from the Bekaa Valley town of Hermel, is a teacher at a public secondary school in Arsal.
There has been an upsurge in kidnappings for ransom in Lebanon in recent months.
