BEIRUT: Caretaker Information Minister Walid Daouk denounced Friday the kidnapping of Lebanese cameraman Samir Kassab and a reporter in Syria and called for their release.
Sky News Arabia said that Tuesday it had lost contact with reporter Ishak Moctar, a Mauritanian national, cameraman Samir Kassab, a Lebanese national, and their Syrian driver, whose name is being withheld at his family’s request.
The three were in Aleppo at the time of their disappearance. In a statement issued by his office, Daouk called for “exerting efforts to release all the kidnapped, regardless of their nationalities, including cameraman Kassab and his colleague, who were doing their jobs and are not linked in to the tragic war in Syria.”
He also called for initiating the negotiation process with the kidnappers and to intensify contacts with relevant parties to ensure that Kassab and his colleagues are released as soon as possible.
