BEIRUT: An Iraqi-Lebanese national who was kidnapped in Mansourieh last week was released over the weekend, a security source told The Daily Star.
Wafer Bahnam told police that he was released Friday without having to pay ransom, the source said. He was released near the Nahr al-Mot area where family members picked him up.
Kidnappers had called Bahnam’s relatives to inform them of the location. Four men driving an SUV abducted Bahnam on Oct. 10 in Mansourieh. His kidnappers had originally contacted his family asking for a $1 million ransom for his release.
