BEIRUT: First Military Investigative Judge Riad Abu Ghayda rejected Friday the medical excuse provided by Arab Democratic Party leader Ali Eid for his failure to appear for questioning a day earlier.
Speaking to The Daily Star, Abu Ghayda said he would make the appropriate decision with respect to Eid.
Hiam Eid, Eid’s lawyer, attended the questioning session before the Military Tribunal on his behalf Thursday.
She submitted a report to Abu Ghayda stating that her brother couldn’t appear due to poor health conditions.
The head of the pro-Syrian party faces allegations of facilitating the escape of a suspect who parked one of two rigged cars that had exploded near two mosques in Tripoli last August, killing 30 people and wounding scores more.
