BEIRUT – The Social Affairs Ministry said that it will continue to distribute aid for Syrian refugees to help them get through the snow storm sweeping through Lebanon.

“The Social Affairs Ministry groups will continue to coordinate with Lebanese Armed Forces units and the UNHCR to distribute aid for refugees to help them get through the snow storm,” the ministry said in a statement issued Wednesday.

The statement added that “aid that helps fortify tents has been distributed in the Beqaa towns of Britel, Shaat, and Housh an-Nabi.”

Emergency food supplies and heating devices have been sent to Arsal in case the road leading to the area gets cut off by snow.

“On Thursday, aid will be distributed in the towns of the Al-Qaa projects, Al-Khodr, Iaat, Hrabta, Shlifa, and Deir el-Ahmar.”

Also on Thursday, an aid convoy will take 250 shares of aid to a shelter in Akkar’s Halba which will later be distributed to regions of the North.

Thousands of Syrian refugees living in makeshift camps in Lebanon were weathering a winter storm on Wednesday that brought snow, rain and freezing temperatures to the country.
