BEIRUT: Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour slammed the international community Friday as “a big lie,” saying it had inflicted more suffering on the Syrian refugees than the Syrian regime itself.
“After seeing all the suffering I saw today, I can say we and the big lie, the international community, are carrying out what [Syrian] President Bashar Assad failed to do,” Abu Faour said after touring a Syrian refugee camp in Al-Marj, in the Bekaa Valley.
The camp hosts over 280 families. Abu Faour held the international community to blame for the plight of Syrian refugees in Lebanon as it has not provided the country with the required aid to address the humanitarian crisis.
He also slammed the Lebanese state for refusing to establish organized camps for Syrian refugees.
“The Social Affairs Ministry cannot make the decision to create camps, but this move is made by the highest authorities,” he said.
